Once upon a time…

LINK Community & Transport, like many organisations, was drowning in messy data. Billing was a nightmare—errors, inconsistencies, and missing information made it difficult to ensure payments were accurate and on time. The finance team was constantly firefighting, manually chasing down discrepancies, and struggling to keep up.

Every day…

Our team would spend hours digging through spreadsheets, cross-checking records, and fixing issues after invoices had already been sent out. This reactive approach wasn’t just inefficient—it was costly. It delayed payments, created frustration for both staff and clients, and made financial forecasting nearly impossible.

But one day…

I realised we needed a proactive solution. Instead of constantly fixing errors after the fact, why not catch them before billing even happened? So, I built a dashboard that flagged exceptions, giving the team real-time visibility into issues that could be corrected ahead of time.

Because of that…

The finance team gained control. Billing became smoother, and errors dropped significantly. We achieved successes in finance through automation such as posting of invoice payments, credit card processing, expense reporting, etc. Seeing how much time and effort we saved, I asked: what else could we automate?

That success led us to…

Expand automation into operations. Phone calls were replaced with automated SMS notifications, reducing manual workload and improving client communications. We weren’t just fixing problems—we were designing smarter systems.
